Otto’s well-ordered\, solitary world gets a shake-up one snowy morning with the appearance of new neighbours\, a chatty young couple and their two daughters\, who announce their arrival by accidentally driving over a curb with their U-Haul. \nWhat follows is a heartwarming tale of unkempt cats\, unlikely friendships\, and a community’s unexpected reassessment of the one person they thought they had figured out. Starring Tom Hanks in the lead role of Otto\, this cheering tale is a remake of the film adaptation of the novel “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman. \n‘Cinema Now’ \nCinema Now is an observational documentary which depicts all of London’s independent cinemas as they were during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic\, which devastated cultural institutions across the country and globally. This film\, shot entirely on Kodak Super8mm celluloid film\, provides an insight into what people were feeling and thinking about through the use of an interwoven audio montage featuring dozens of voices. The film ultimately strives to make it known just how important these venues are to everybody and our very industry\, and how that was missed. There is no limit to where cinema can be found. \nThe doors and the bar will open at 7pm for the for the 7.15pm screening of ‘Cinema Now’\nThe screening of ‘A Man Called Otto’ will begin at 7.30pm. Light snacks will be available on the bar. DESCRIPTION:Big Comedy Shop run comedy sketch and improvisation workshops for young people aged between 6 and 12. Experienced facilitators and (of course) funny comedy performers lead the school holiday sessions where students take part in a drama style workshop but where the focus is on “the funny”. \nEach Holiday Comedy Club day runs from 10.30am-3.30pm with an option of Early Drop Off at 08.30am and / or Late Pick Up at 5pm. \nChildren get to create their own comedy characters and sketches based on their imagination and observations of the world. The marks will be given to you later that day so that you know where practice would be most beneficial. We will also return the papers to you by post\, so that you can look through what is likely to come up and know what areas to go over. \nTaking a mock exam is an excellent opportunity to rehearse what the day will be like in terms of format and structure\, so that it is not as stressful on the day. It provides an opportunity to answer the questions using the answer sheet in the correct way and to get used to the timings of the paper. We’re hosting the mock exam a full month beforehand\, so that there is still time to revise any areas that are picked up on during this day.

SUMMARY:A56 cycling & walking consultation event
DESCRIPTION:During the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020\, Trafford Council installed temporary cycle lanes on the roads around Stretford Public Hall\, on the A56 Chester Road and Edge Lane. This was to promote walking\, wheeling and cycling choices for shorter journeys. \nThe council held a consultation in November 2021 on the future of the temporary cycle lanes. This initial consultation report can be viewed here: A56 Consultation Report \nThe feedback from this consultation was then used to shape new proposals for an active travel scheme along the A56 Corridor. The first phase of this scheme involved the introduction of active travel improvements on the A5014 Chester Road. This phase was built in March of this year. \nTrafford Council now wants you to have your say on the proposals for the second phase of this scheme. These proposals aim to keep the existing layout of the temporary cycle scheme on A56 Chester Road. Parts of this layout will be improved to boost cyclist and pedestrian safety. \nYou can view the proposals and have your say online\, on the consultation website here. \nWe are also hosting an in-person consultation event\, here at Stretford Public Hall on Thursday 17th August\, 9am – 7pm. \nCome along to the hall to find out more about the proposals and to share your thoughts on what is planned.
