DESCRIPTION:Dance for Parkinson’s brings their award-winning dance program to Stretford Public Hall every Wednesday from 12 pm.\nIt is run by Lewis Bailey who is the Dance Teacher and Exercise Provider for the Parkinson’s group. He has over 20 years of experience as a Latin and Ballroom dancer and thoroughly enjoys teaching others to dance. \nThe class is for anyone affected by Parkinson’s. The dance for Parkinson’s class is a great way to get the body moving in a fun and inclusive environment. Dancing is known to reduce stress and alleviate physical and emotional pressures from the body and is therefore cited as being one of the best forms of exercise to take part in. \nThe class involves a number of warm up activities which range from breathing exercises\, stretches for the body\, and movement sequences. We then move onto some Latin and Ballroom steps\, or some creative movement to music. It caters for a wide range of abilities and the class can be done seated throughout if required. \nIS THERE A CHARGE \nNo\, all classes are funded by the Trafford branch of Parkinson’s UK \nDO I NEED TO BOOK\nNo\, just turn up 10 minutes before the class is due to start.

She is part of the collective Scientific Rambles currently exhibiting in Stockport Hatworks for ARC Creative Wellbeing centre\, and she founded the ‘Sew Your Place’ project in 2024\, combining social stitching with collaborative cartography\, and running versions of this participatory experience at Leek Textile Week 2024 and Kew Gardens 2025. Becca is also the director of the New Macclesfield School of Art (founded 2022) and is muralist\, teacher and community artist in her home town of Macclesfield\, Cheshire. \nCj O’Neill – Belfast-born (1978) and raised as the youngest of 7 children to a Dublin-born mother and Omagh-born father\, Cj lives in Manchester with her husband and 2 children and explores her Irish identity\, family\, transitions and storytelling through a Craft practice which focuses on working with existing ceramic objects. Cj is a senior lecturer of Craft at Manchester School of Art teaching across ceramics\, glass\, jewellery and object making at BA\, MA and PhD level. Her focus in teaching is to support the individual or group she is working with to find their unique creative language in the right material\, enabling them to communicate their message through making to make a positive contribution to the world. \nSt Brigid’s Arms project \n  \nThis is a new project capturing untold stories of Irish women in the UK starting January 2025 until February 2027. \nThe National Lottery Heritage Fund backs ambitious project using creative approach to capture UK-based Irish women’s stories \nA groundbreaking new project has been launched by female-led organisation Emerald LENS CIC to document the experiences of women of Irish heritage in the UK. Supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and match funding from the University of Liverpool’s Institute of Irish Studies\, the initiative will run until February 2027\, combining creative workshops and exhibitions to preserve stories that might otherwise be lost.

DESCRIPTION:Stretford Children’s Theatre’s aim is to elevate local children and young people through the performing arts; and to enrich their community through public productions. They achieve this aim through providing affordable\, high-quality\, accessible\, fun weekly drama/choir sessions for local children/young people (aged 4-16yrs). Allows them to develop their talent and potential\, increase their independence\, well-being\, and expand local creative opportunities. \nSessions are delivered by professional theatre and music practitioners who are specialists in working with different age groups. Fees are deliberately low to ensure sessions are as accessible to as many children as possible. \nStretford Children’s Theatre was originally founded in 1945 by Bertram H. Holland and was embedded in the community for more than 35 years.
