Fees are deliberately low to ensure sessions are as accessible to as many children as possible. \nStretford Children’s Theatre was originally founded in 1945 by Bertram H. Holland and was embedded in the community for more than 35 years. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Stretford Community Assembly! \nAn assembly is a way for local people to come together\, talk through an issue\, hear different perspectives and agree what should happen next. The aim is to reach shared decisions and turn them into action. \nOver the past six months\, we’ve been speaking to people across Stretford to ask them what they love about Stretford and what they would like to change. \nThe broad theme that cropped up again and again was community safety. People told us that they don’t always feel safe walking\, wheeling and cycling around Stretford; how difficult and unsafe it sometimes is for younger and older people to move around Stretford; the huge impact that roads and car traffic have on our neighbourhood; as well as whether refugees and people seeking asylum feel safe and welcome here. \nThese conversations have shaped the main question our community assembly will ask: How do we make Stretford a safe place to be? \nWe’ll explore what ‘safe’ means to all of us\, what do we think needs to change\, and what can we all do together to make Stretford safer for everyone? \nYou don’t need any special knowledge or experience to come along. We’ll chat in small groups\, making sure everyone gets a chance to take part. We’ll also invite local councillors\, organisations and services to come along and listen. We want to agree practical actions and to work out who can help make them happen. \nJoin us at 5pm for some delicious food from Open Kitchen. The Assembly will run until 8pm with plenty of breaks\, refreshments\, and chances to move around around the room and meet other people. \nWe want the Assembly to represent as wide a range of people from Stretford as possible – so whether you’ve lived here all your life or have only just arrived\, we’d really like you to be part of it.

DESCRIPTION:We are holding a Heritage Open Day on Saturday 12 September\, from 1pm to 5pm\, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the hall from all over Trafford.\nCommissioned by philanthropists John and Enriqueta Rylands\, Stretford Public Hall officially opened on 13 September 1879. Since 2015\, it has been a community-owned venue\, run by staff and volunteers\, for the benefit of the local community. \nCome and learn about the history of our impressive neo-Gothic\, Grade II listed building and the people and events that helped to shape it through the years\, turning it into the prominent and valuable community resource it is today. \nEntry is free and visitors will have the chance to tour parts of the building that are not usually open to the public\, such as the hall’s clock tower and the vast basement\, and even have a chat with ‘Enriqueta’! \nKey attractions include: \n\nA talk by Dr Elizabeth Gow\, Curator and Archivist at John Rylands Library\, on ‘The Forgotten Library’\, an exhibition about Enriqueta Rylands and her books\, currently running at John Rylands until the end of October\nA pop-up recording space where you can record your memories of the hall\, made possible by George Bailey\, Creative Director\, Common Arts.\nThe Stretford Unofficial Museum\, courtesy of Bruntwood\, with a display about the concept of museums on high streets and their upcoming programme.\n\nYounger visitors will be able to try out a variety of craft activities during the afternoon. \nRefreshments and snacks will be available at our bar and café. \nIn September 2029 the hall will be 150 years old and we are planning a special celebration. As part of that we need your help! If you are able to donate it helps us keep these classes going and affordable for all. \nPay what you can\nAll our Wellbeing Tuesday classes and events are ‘pay what you can’ basis. This means that everyone regardless of finances\, can access events and activities here at Stretford Public Hall and everyone will always get the same experience. \nEach class will have a suggested donation based on what similar classes in the area cost to attend. If you are able to donate this price\, it will help us to keep this programme of events running for the future.
