DESCRIPTION:Dance for Parkinson’s brings their award-winning dance program to Stretford Public Hall every Wednesday from 12 pm.\nIt is run by Lewis Bailey who is the Dance Teacher and Exercise Provider for the Parkinson’s group. He has over 20 years of experience as a Latin and Ballroom dancer and thoroughly enjoys teaching others to dance. \nThe class is for anyone affected by Parkinson’s. The dance for Parkinson’s class is a great way to get the body moving in a fun and inclusive environment. Dancing is known to reduce stress and alleviate physical and emotional pressures from the body and is therefore cited as being one of the best forms of exercise to take part in. \nThe class involves a number of warm up activities which range from breathing exercises\, stretches for the body\, and movement sequences. We then move onto some Latin and Ballroom steps\, or some creative movement to music. It caters for a wide range of abilities and the class can be done seated throughout if required. \nIS THERE A CHARGE \nNo\, all classes are funded by the Trafford branch of Parkinson’s UK \nDO I NEED TO BOOK\nNo\, just turn up 10 minutes before the class is due to start.

DESCRIPTION:If you have always wanted to upcycle furniture\, but felt like you would benefit from professional guidance\, then this is the course for you! You will learn how to prepare your furniture\, using wood filler\, expert sanding and paint techniques. You will learn to create stunningly modern geometric designs that are simple to achieve. By the end of the day you will leave with a gorgeous piece of upcycled furniture\, feeling confident of your skills and full of ideas for future projects. \nThe workshops have a relaxed and informal atmosphere where we can inspire each other and have lots of fun along the way. To ensure you get my full support throughout the day class sizes are kept small. All you need to bring is an unpainted\, wooden piece of furniture. This should be easy to carry and no larger than a bedside table or small side table. \nContact Hannah at hannah@treadsoftlyfurniture.co.uk with any questions or for recommendations of where to source your preloved piece. Send a picture of it if you would like advice. \nAll abilities are welcome. It can get messy so please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an urgent and thought‑provoking evening as we screen The National Emergency Briefing\, a powerful new film exploring the climate and ecological crises through clear\, accessible\, community‑focused storytelling. \nCreated to inform and mobilise\, the film brings together scientists\, organisers and everyday people to outline what’s happening — and what we can do next. \nAfter the film we’ll have a hackathon style solution focused workshop which will be facilitated by Dr Sharon Coen\, Associate Professor in Media Psychology at The University of Salford.\nThe MP for Urmston and Stretford\, Andrew Western will also be joining us for the screening and discussions. \nThis event is donation based with free tickets available\, open to all\, and suitable for anyone interested in climate justice\, community organising\, or understanding the challenges ahead. \nWhat is a Hackathon? \nOriginating in the context of computing\, where they bought together coders to ‘hack’ coding issues\, the term Hackathon is now widely adopted to indicate events where groups of people with different competencies get together to find solutions to specific challenges. \nDr Coen has conducted climate- related hackathons in the past. In a paper relating to one such event\, she noted how participants tended to make assumptions about politicians and explain their behaviour in terms of internal characteristics\, rather than situational constraints. \nHaving politicians working with them in these groups will help establish a fruitful dialogue and mutual understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to climate action

DESCRIPTION:Dance for Parkinson’s brings their award-winning dance program to Stretford Public Hall every Wednesday from 12 pm.\nIt is run by Lewis Bailey who is the Dance Teacher and Exercise Provider for the Parkinson’s group. He has over 20 years of experience as a Latin and Ballroom dancer and thoroughly enjoys teaching others to dance. \nThe class is for anyone affected by Parkinson’s. The dance for Parkinson’s class is a great way to get the body moving in a fun and inclusive environment. Dancing is known to reduce stress and alleviate physical and emotional pressures from the body and is therefore cited as being one of the best forms of exercise to take part in. \nThe class involves a number of warm up activities which range from breathing exercises\, stretches for the body\, and movement sequences. We then move onto some Latin and Ballroom steps\, or some creative movement to music. It caters for a wide range of abilities and the class can be done seated throughout if required. \nIS THERE A CHARGE \nNo\, all classes are funded by the Trafford branch of Parkinson’s UK \nDO I NEED TO BOOK\nNo\, just turn up 10 minutes before the class is due to start.
