DESCRIPTION:A Man Called Otto \nAt first sight\, Otto is almost certainly the grumpiest man you will ever meet\, a curmudgeon with staunch principles\, strict routines\, and a short fuse. People think him bitter\, and he thinks himself surrounded by idiots. Otto’s well-ordered\, solitary world gets a shake-up one snowy morning with the appearance of new neighbours\, a chatty young couple and their two daughters\, who announce their arrival by accidentally driving over a curb with their U-Haul. \nWhat follows is a heartwarming tale of unkempt cats\, unlikely friendships\, and a community’s unexpected reassessment of the one person they thought they had figured out. Starring Tom Hanks in the lead role of Otto\, this cheering tale is a remake of the film adaptation of the novel “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman. \n‘Cinema Now’ \nCinema Now is an observational documentary which depicts all of London’s independent cinemas as they were during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic\, which devastated cultural institutions across the country and globally. This film\, shot entirely on Kodak Super8mm celluloid film\, provides an insight into what people were feeling and thinking about through the use of an interwoven audio montage featuring dozens of voices. The film ultimately strives to make it known just how important these venues are to everybody and our very industry\, and how that was missed. There is no limit to where cinema can be found. \nThe doors and the bar will open at 7pm for the for the 7.15pm screening of ‘Cinema Now’\nThe screening of ‘A Man Called Otto’ will begin at 7.30pm. Light snacks will be available on the bar. The banner will respond to the theme ‘freedom for women’ and will be hung on display at Stretford Public Hall. \nCome along to design\, make\, sew\, embroider\, paint\, and chat with local women! \nDesign session: Thur 8th June \nMaking sessions: Thur 15th June – Thur 22nd June – Thur 29th June –  Break – Thur 13th July – Thur 20th July \nYou can attend as many workshops as you like\, the sessions are designed so you can attend one or all six workshops! \nWomen only sessions.
