DESCRIPTION:‘Northern Soul’ is the story of the 1970s youth culture that developed in Northern England and changed a generation. It’s an authentic and uplifting account of two young boys whose horizons are opened up by the discovery of black American soul music.  \nSet in Lancashire in 1974\, the film follows Matt and John as they leave behind a humdrum life of youth clubs and factory lines to chase a dream of travelling to the US\, unearthing unknown soul 45s and establishing themselves as top DJ’s on the Northern soul music scene. Their dance and drug-fuelled quest brings them into contact with some of the darker elements of the scene and tests their friendship to its limits. With a killer soundtrack that will guarantee you get your kicks out on the floor! \n\n\n\n\nThe doors and the bar will open at 7pm\nThe screening of ‘Northern Soul’ will begin at 7.15pm. The AGM is open to both members and non-members but members will have to register on arrival to ensure we have sufficient attendance for the AGM to take place. DESCRIPTION:Nimble Arts North is thrilled to be launching Buzz Music classes for babies\, toddlers and school-age children at Stretford Public Hall at the end of November. \nOur brand new electronic music classes are run by Nimble Arts Director Catherine Burgis\, also known as recording artist and producer Test Card Girl (BBC 6Music One to Watch 2022\, Greater Manchester Mayor’s Artist of the Month April 2023\, as heard on 6Music\, Radio X\, Absolute Radio) They are a unique blend of composing and performing using mini keyboards\, loop pedals and all kinds of weird and wonderful noise makers and technology! \nNo prior experience is needed for any of our classes\, and they are designed to build musicality and rhythm\, develop motor skills\, team work and confidence! Buzz Babes is our peaceful class for 0-pre-crawlers and their parents. \nLet the electronic lullabies wash over you as you create sounds\, sequences and songs using your own mini keyboard (if you want!) – the perfect way to wind down and experience something new! Our mixed aged 6 months – 4 years Buzz Tots classes are ideal for older children and their siblings\, or crawling + babies and toddlers. \nChildren use their voice\, their hands\, and their feet to create their own musical worlds and adults get to join in too! This is a fantastic first step to introducing children to musical instruments and finding their way around a keyboard. \nOur Buzz Kids classes for Reception to Year 2 and Year 3-6 are a more advanced class (again no experience necessary!) where parents can stay and watch (or get on with some work outside the room!). These classes take a musical stimulus each week from which we draw out motifs and ideas to create our own masterpieces. \nWe work on developing musicality through learning by ear\, learning to read symbols\, working together\, experimenting\, composing and performing. Where will our next musical adventures take us? \nHalf-price £5 trial sessions available for Wednesdays 29th November – 20th December \nFull price one-off and half-term blocks available for booking from January 2024 \nBuzz Babes and Buzz Tots can be booked as £10 one-off session (£6 for siblings) or £8 if booked in a half-term block of 6 weeks. \nBuzz Kids can only be booked as a half-term block. SUMMARY:Community Tech Autumn Gathering 2023
DESCRIPTION:Join us in person to celebrate the spirit of collaboration and curiosity in our community tech community of practice. We are delighted to invite you to an enriching event of connection\, reflection\, and conversation. \nAfter a brief introduction and opportunity to meet others in the space\, we will spend the afternoon in facilitated Open Space discussions. What we discuss will be up to you\, the community\, and we’ll be crowdsourcing topics via our Discord and Online Monthly Meet Ups. If you are attending the in person event\, we will be providing tea/coffee/snacks and at around 5pm we will wrap things up with alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. \nWe will be hosted by Stretford Public Hall in Manchester — which is home to Friends of Stretford Public Hall. They are one of the organisations in our Makers and Maintainers cohort of organisations who’ve been funded to explore a community tech idea over two years as part of a programme run by Promising Trouble and Power To Change. The building itself is a beautiful and comfortable setting for our community meet up and we’re delighted to share the space with you all. \nWe are committed to making all of our events as welcoming and accessible as possible. There will be BSL interpreters present. Please let us know if you have any access requirements.
