Fires and Fascism’ is about building community at times of crisis. The wildfires in southern Europe created opportunities for people to come together. But it’s not just climate change driving these fires; it’s also big business and organised crime, and the far right are feeding off them.
Pete Knapp: Director of Fires and Fascism, who changed from air quality research to filmmaking to tell the story of people recovering from wildfires. This is Pete’s first film, made on a shoestring crowdfunded budget with the aim of showing the broader links between wildfires and capitalism and to help start local action to unite people in a time of growing division.
