Join us on Saturday 11th May for our Dead Good Fair, an afternoon of activities exploring how we think and talk about death.
The fair will include:
- Project Grief – a photography exhibition which tells the stories of people finding comfort, distraction or hope in a creative pursuit after losing someone they love
- AIDS memorial quilt – a beautiful tribute to some of those who have lost their lives to AIDS
- Death cafe – join a death cafe and learn more about the death cafe movement
- Write your own eulogy – with Common Theatre
There will talks taking place all afternoon in our Speakers Corner:
- 12.30pm – How to plan a funeral – Mark Adams & Corinne Firth-Surkitt, The Humanist Society
- 1pm – What is a death cafe – Jude Evans, Chorlton Death Cafe
- 1.30pm – Advance planning for end of life – Erin Osborne,
- 2pm – Will-writing and power of attorney – Kerry Blackhurst, BBS Law
Also at 2pm, join volunteers from Cruse Bereavement for a workshop on ‘Talking to children about death’, or join the Death Cafe, run by Jude Evans from Chorlton Death Cafe.
Emerald LENS will be running family-friendly craft activies, including seed sowing and lantern making, and refreshments available all afternoon from our cafe.
Information stalls will also be sharing information from local organisations including Trafford Carers, St. Ann’s Hospice, Farewell Flowers, local faith organisations, and an NHS Organ Donation Ambassador.
