Celebrate International Women’s Day 2024 with us!
Stretford Public Hall is celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) by holding a range of events between March 8 and March 10, and we would love you to come and take part.
IWD 2024 is on March 8, and this year’s theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’. We are hoping to achieve this by celebrating the creativity of all women in our community.
Our first event is on Friday, March 8. We will be running a free Corsage Workshop from 9.30am to 11am, Women and children are invited to come along and make some beautiful corsages and rosettes which you will be able to take away with you and wear.
Volunteers from the Stretford Stride team will be on hand to help you, and all materials and refreshments will be provided.
On Saturday March 9, we will be holding two events. The first is a Women’s Safety Banner workshop from 2pm to 4pm.
Come and join us to make mini banners which symbolise what safety means to you. The session will use embroidery, felt and pens. You don’t need to have artistic skills to take part.
The session leader, Karen, a psychotherapist, will help you choose the designs that resonate with you. Her artistic practice includes portraits, embroidery and animation. She regularly facilitates art workshops at the hall, working with the community to create and connect.
Our second event on March 9 is our renowned IWD disco! Organised by women, for women, the disco provides a safe space to enjoy a fun evening together, and to dress, dance, and party however you want to.
DJ Misscothèque, aka Maddy, will keep you grooving all night, with her cool blend of disco, house, and soul music.
Our bar will be open, serving wine, Prosecco, beers, spirits, and soft drinks.

Our final event will be held on Sunday, March 10. From 10am to 12 noon, yoga teacher Hebe Reilly, and disco, funk & house DJ Misscothèque, will be running a Mother’s Day Yoga Rave – a fun fusion of guided, floor-based yoga moves and stretches, plus free-style movement and dancing to a live DJ. The session will end with guided cool-down and relaxation.
A standard ticket is £10, we also offer a concessionary ticket.
