Dead Good Stretford – festival planning underway!

We are very excited to be planning Dead Good Stretford, a weekend-long festival exploring death and dying, to be held here at Stretford Public Hall.

The festival will be held during National Dying Matters Awareness week in May 2024, a nationwide week of action organised by Hospice UK, intended to create an open culture in which people are comfortable talking about death, dying and grief.

The aim of our festival is to encourage people to be more open about dying, death and bereavement, and to celebrate these themes creatively through art, music, and other forms of culture. In line with the 2024 Dying Matters Awareness week theme, the festival will focus on the language that we use around death, dying and grief.

The festival will be free to attend, and will run from Friday 10th – Sunday 12th May 2024.

We are busy organising the workshops, sessions and activities that will make up the festival and are keen to hear from anyone who would like to be involved, including artists and performers, and any local support services.

If you’d like to find out more, or to get involved, contact Kate by email kate@stretfordpublichall.org.uk or call 0161 989 1689.

We are grateful to Trafford Council and the Trafford Community Collective, for funding the festival through a Public Health in Arts grant.
