Homes for Ukraine Official Welcome Event
On Monday 13 June, Stretford Public Hall, along with our Trafford Community Hubs and Trafford Council, successfully hosted an event to officially welcome Ukrainians to Trafford.
The event was attended by over 150 people and Stretford Public Hall volunteers did a great job of looking after them.
Here’s a snippet of the introduction speech given by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester: click here
Andy mentioned to our volunteers how lovely and bright the Hall is looking – which was really welcome!
Musician Mariam Petrovska also performed a piece on the Bandura, the national musical instrument of Ukraine. You can listen to a clip of her performance here: click here
Under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, providing information and support via our community hubs has been vital for arrivals and hosts.
Each hub has been busy giving out welcome boxes to people arriving from Ukraine, and, together with the amazing hosts, the hubs have been supporting them through the trials of coming to a new city.
Many coffee mornings, conversation classes and information sessions are popping up across Trafford. For more information about these, contact your local community hub here
Trafford needs more donations for the welcome packs. If you are able to make a donation or want more information about donating, click here
