We are delighted to share a magical discovery from 1953, recently uncovered by St Matthew’s CE Primary School following their whole-school visit to Stretford Public Hall last year. The photograph, taken at a Christmas Fair held in the Hall’s beautiful ballroom, shows St Matthew’s efforts decorating the ballroom for festivities more than seventy years ago. It has never been seen before and fell out of a book in storage! It is a wonderful reminder of the long-standing connection between our local schools and this much-loved community building and how generations of young people have helped bring it to life.
This year, we are warmly inviting local schools to visit Stretford Public Hall ballroom free of charge, with easy access on foot. A visit offers pupils the chance to step into their local history, explore the stunning Victorian architecture, and discover the stories held within its walls. Just as St Matthew’s enjoyed their special day with us last year, we would love to welcome more schools to create their own memorable experience in this historic space. Please get in touch to arrange your free visit. Contact: emma@stretfordpublichall.org.uk
