See ‘Hidden Figures’ at the hall during Black History Month

To support Black History Month, we will be screening the film, ‘Hidden Figures’, on Saturday 22 October.

Hidden Figures is based on the true story of three African-American women, who were the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch into orbit of the first American astronaut, John Glenn, in 1962.

Part of a women-only team performing mathematical calculations, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson are seen battling racial, gender and professional barriers at a time when the Civil Rights movement was at its height.

Their brilliance and desire to dream big, beyond anything ever accomplished before by the human race, firmly cemented them in U.S. history as true American heroes.
