Stretford celebrates first ever Pride with joy & unity

Stretford came alive with live music and community spirit last Saturday 2nd of August as the town hosted its very first Pride event!
The celebration marked a significant and joyful moment for the town, bringing together residents, local businesses, and visitors to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride, inclusion, and unity. Hosted here at the hall and surrounding town centre venues, the event featured a parade, dog show, community stalls, and plenty of opportunities for people to connect and show their support.
Darren Pritchard brought his high-energy Drag Lip Sync Brawl to the stage, lighting up the afternoon with bold performances and fierce talent, while volunteers helped create a welcoming and safe space for all attendees.
We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout, with thousands of people of all ages attending throughout the day. “We wanted to create something that celebrates our diverse community and brings people together – and we did just that,” said Carson Wolfe (event director, and native Stretfordian). “Hearing so much positive feedback on the day was truly affirming and meaningful.”
In addition to the festivities, the event also highlighted important messages around equity and acceptance. The LGBT Foundation, Amnesty International, Proud 2 b Parents, Collaborative Women, and the Trafford Methodist Church were present to offer resources, raise awareness, and stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.
As the day came to a close, there was already talk of next year’s event. One local attendee summed it up best: “Stretford Pride made me proud to live here.”
