Trafford Tree of Hope

A colourful display in the hall’s ballroom formed part of the Million Acts of Hope campaign, a UK-wide initiative held from May 13 to 20, celebrating everyday acts of kindness and connection.

Emma Finn, our community hub co-ordinator, explains the display: ‘In these times of division, we wanted to bring the love to Stretford by sharing notes from local M32 people about the things that give them hope and what they are grateful for. These messages formed a tree across the ballroom floor for everyone to see on ‘Together Tuesday.’

Visitors, volunteers, and staff were invited throughout the week to write down what gives them hope.

Cllr George Devlin, executive member for housing and advice, said: ‘I am delighted that Stretford Public Hall has taken part in the Million Acts of Hope initiative. And what a fantastic response they have had from the community with all the messages received. We are living in uncertain times and this event has pulled us together and helped to give us all hope.’

On May 19, our ‘Together Tuesday’ invited residents to take part in a ‘stone soup’ session, inspired by the idea that small contributions from many can create something meaningful.

Staff donated vegetables, which our brilliant volunteer Hazel then turned into a soup for everyone to share.
